Tip 1 – If a rupture occurs, and the pipe is open to environmental contamination and water pressure at the break site is lost, precautions must be taken to reduce health risks.
Tip 2 – If no contaminations occurred during repair work, only flushing and verifying proper chlorine residual levels are necessary.
Tip 3 – If the main is kept pressurized throughout trenching and isolation of the line, no disinfection or sampling is required as the sanitary integrity of the line will be maintained.
