Nebraska Region Manager Mike Adair receiving the WEA Golden Manhole Award from Scott Aurit.

Please join me in extending hearty congratulations to Mike Adair, the recipient of the Nebraska Water Environment Association (WEA) chapter’s Golden Manhole Award! The award is given in recognition of those who have contributed to the development and professionalism of the Collection System Industry. This is certainly true of Mike.

He started his water/wastewater journey in 2005 when he began working for PeopleService in our Nebraska Region. He learned early on how important it was to implement a strong operational, maintenance and cleaning program for the collection systems to reduce I & I, as well as minimizing sewer backups. Mike was committed to being proactive versus reactive and was continually gaining knowledge to aid in his career growth.

With this growth came new opportunities, and Mike transitioned into our Director, Operational Programs position. In this role, Mike was responsible for training PeopleService’s entire operations workforce on proper safety equipment use and personal safety practices. He was instrumental in driving our company to adopt written Standard Operational Programs, using technology to track maintenance/repair on our client’s equipment, as well as implementing a GIS software to map collection systems maintenance and repair. Mike continued to promote a proactive approach when it came to the collections system by conducting smoke testing, reviewing camera video and making recommendations based on his findings. In addition to sharing his collection systems knowledge internally, he has conducted several presentations throughout Nebraska, Iowa and Missouri on designing an effective collection system program.

Recently, Mike was promoted into his current role of Nebraska Region Manager where he is now responsible for ensuring all contract obligations are performed safely, compliant with regulations and protect our client’s equipment. His passion, knowledge and experience in implementing and maintaining a proper collection system program will continue to be a valuable asset to PeopleService and our eastern Nebraska clients.

Mike has demonstrated a commitment and drive to continue looking for new and innovative ways to strengthen water/wastewater/distribution/collections programs to be more effective and efficient while providing excellent customer service to our clients and their residents.
