The Clear Take on Water and Wastewater Today

HUGE BOOTS TO FILL

Al Meyer Dedicated His Life to the Service of People

By Chad Meyer, President of PeopleService

Chad MeyerOn Saturday, March 14, we lost our most experienced operator – our Chairman and CEO, the man who grew a business from one client to the more than 180 we have today. He was the rock of wisdom who believed passionately that if we looked after our employees, they would look after our customers.

Alan (Al) Meyer spent over 30 years building a family of employees premised on serving our communities, enhancing their lives and livelihoods and his measure of success was that “if we are doing our job right, no one will know it.”

He was a professional to his fingertips, a proud and humble Midwesterner – and he was my father.

Understandably our family, the extended PeopleService family, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing or meeting Dad, is shocked and saddened by his sudden and untimely passing. It’s something that’s almost impossible to prepare for – unless you’re Al Meyer.

Since I entered the business 11 years ago, Al has been preparing me for this day. He has instilled in me the values of our company. There’s a reason we’re named PeopleService – our people are our treasure and we were built to serve. In typical Al fashion, the name, understated, says it all.

We manage, operate and maintain the veins and arteries that are the lifeblood of the cities we serve. Safe, clean, water and wastewater drives a city’s growth and its community to prosper. We are the stewards of those invisible systems and we are all proud to serve the communities we live and work in.

Those values flow through all of us here at PeopleService as smoothly as the water that flows through those communities. Through tough and good times, this will never change.

That’s because the key to PeopleService is our people. We have brought together a group of talented and committed professionals who are invested in their work and diligent about serving their communities.

One of the most rewarding aspects of this job is presenting service awards to our employees. We have so many long-term employees that go that extra mile for our customers. They believe in what we do and give so much of themselves. It is truly an honor for me to recognize all that they do to make PeopleService so successful.

Integrity is key. The communities that employ our services trust us to give them the full benefit of our expertise. We are always learning and advancing our knowledge about every aspect of the water/wastewater business.

Right now, we all face a threat to our communities that is new. Rest assured, we will be here to serve during these challenging times. We are ready and prepared to continue the work started 32 years ago. And I know that my Dad, whose work is done, will be watching over us. May he Rest in Peace.
