Is your water/wastewater operation as efficient as it can be?

Sometimes, when you’ve been working the same way for years, it can be hard to tell if you’re being as efficient as you can be. It’s akin to not knowing what you don’t know and how can you know what you’re missing if you don’t have the benefit of a wider view? One of the practices we’ve deployed for years is rotating staff between the operations we manage. Even if it’s only for a short while, like to cover a vacation, our operators gain exposure to various systems and they are all the more valuable when identifying solutions to challenges because they’ve just about seen it all. He can tell if a pump is working harder than it has to due to a maintenance issue, or if the meters reveal a leak that is wasting water, or if the chemicals used are too much or too little for the job.
